Buy & Sell

Bybit P2P in Naira: How It Works, Step by Step

In P2P, you trade with another user while the platform holds the crypto in escrow. You pay naira to the seller's bank account, and the seller releases the coins once the money arrives. Never release coins until you see the money in your own account.

How P2P works

You do not buy from the exchange. You buy from another person. Bybit's role is to hold the seller's coins in escrow until the payment is confirmed. That protects the buyer from a seller who never delivers. It does not protect the seller from fake payments, so sellers must be extra careful.

Reading an ad

Look at:

  • Price per USDT in naira. Compare it with today's naira rates.
  • Limits: the smallest and largest amount.
  • Completion rate and number of trades: higher is better.
  • Verification label: many experienced advertisers show a "Verification" mark.
  • Payment method and time limit: each ad shows how long you have to pay, often 15 or 30 minutes.

Buying USDT

  1. Open P2P, choose Buy, USDT, NGN.
  2. Pick an ad that fits your amount and payment method.
  3. Enter the amount and place the order.
  4. Pay to the seller's account shown in the order. The account name must match their verified name.
  5. Mark the order as paid.
  6. Wait for the seller to release the coins.

Menu labels can change slightly between app versions.

Selling USDT

  1. Place or choose a sell ad.
  2. Wait for the buyer's payment.
  3. Check your own bank or app balance.
  4. Only then release the coins.

Payment methods

Common choices are bank transfer and fintech apps. They can differ in speed, limits and risk. On 12 October 2026, NGN ads on Bybit listed bank transfer and apps such as OPay, PalmPay and Kuda, plus specific banks such as GTBank, UBA, Access Bank, First Bank, Fidelity and FCMB. Each ad shows which methods it accepts.

What it costs

For NGN, Bybit charges no P2P fee if you respond to an existing ad. Advertisers who post their own buy ads pay 0.25% to 0.3%, and sell ads are free (Bybit Help Centre, checked 12 October 2026). The real cost is usually hidden in the price: one seller's rate can be a few naira per USDT worse than another's, so compare ads before you order. Minimums vary too. On 12 October 2026, many NGN ads started at around ₦4,500 to ₦5,000, while others asked for ₦500,000 or more.

If something goes wrong

Open the order and choose Order Dispute (the appeal), and keep all messages in the trade chat. Bybit says you can appeal while an order is in progress, or within 5 calendar days after it closes. Simple cases ("I paid but the coins were not released", "I was not paid") go through a fast track of about 15 minutes. Other cases can take more than 48 hours. Safety checklist

  • Chat only inside the platform.
  • Name on the payment must match the counterparty.
  • Release only after seeing the money in your account.
  • Be cautious with new accounts and prices that seem too good.
