How to Buy Bitcoin with USDT
On the spot market, choose the BTC/USDT pair, enter how much USDT you want to spend, and place a market order for an instant trade or a limit order at a price you choose. Check the fee and your balance after the trade.
What you are doing
You already hold USDT, a dollar-linked token. Now you trade it for Bitcoin on the exchange's spot market, where you buy the real asset at the current market price (not a bet on the price, which is a different product). See What Is USDT? and What Is Bitcoin?.
Before you trade
- Check that the USDT is in the account used for spot trading. Bybit has separate accounts, such as the Funding Account and the Unified Trading Account. If your USDT does not show on the trading screen, use Transfer to move it.
- Decide how much to spend. Only use money you can afford to lose.
- Look at the fees. See Bybit Fees Explained.
Step by step
- Open the spot trading screen (usually under Trade → Spot).
- Choose the BTC/USDT pair.
- Select Buy.
- Choose an order type:
- Market order: buys right away at the best available price. Simple, but the final price can move a little.
- Limit order: you set the price. It fills only if the market reaches it, so it may not fill at all.
- Enter the amount of USDT to spend (or the amount of Bitcoin to buy).
- Check the summary, then confirm. If the amount is too small, the app tells you the minimum.
Afterwards
Check your Bitcoin balance and the fee taken. Save a record of the trade (date, price, amount). It helps with tax records. See Before Your First Bitcoin Purchase.
Decide whether to leave it on the exchange or move it. See Crypto Wallets Explained.
